Fundraising Workshop – Digital Marketing – Email #1

Subject Line:

Want a day with Canada’s Top Digital Marketer?

Email Text:

Paul Tobey is the keynote speaker for WordCamp Toronto. He is also Canada’s top digital marketing trainer. He has agreed to do an extra workshop the day before #WCTO.

WordCamp Toronto and WC Central are trying something new with this workshop. It is a fundraising event for WordCamp Toronto. So all the proceeds go to covering some of the costs for #WCTO.

The workshop has two pieces – security and digital marketing.
It’s happening Friday, 29 September – 9 am to 5 pm – at the YWCA, 87 Elms St. It’s a couple blocks away from Ryerson.

Christina Varro, of Varro Creative, is doing to morning sessions on site security. Then Paul Tobey, of Business Training Pros, takes over for an afternoon filled with proven, actionable instructions for making your website work for you.

Paul recorded a video to tell you about the workshop

https://wcto.ca/digital-marketing-intensive

But please avoid getting a ticket through that page. If you do, it’s $97. Paul has provided a link for less than half that.

Since it’s their first time doing this, everyone at #WCTO is expecting questions. They definitely want to hear what you think, and are hoping you like the idea of a valuable, worthwhile workshop that supports #WCTO. They are wide open to any questions you have:  wordcampto@gmail.com

Thank you.

Fundraising Workshop – Digital Marketing – Email #2

Has WordCamp Toronto gone crazy?

Email Text:

Have you heard #WCTO is running fundraising workshops for WordCamp? No one has ever done it before, and WordCamp Central is interested to see how it goes. If it works in Toronto, they might try it in other places to lighten the load for sponsors.

The idea is to give folks more in-depth information than we typically get in a WordCamp session. Of course, it also means asking some of the speakers to do “extra duty” by volunteering to lead the workshops.

WordCamp Toronto is doing two workshops:

  • Digital Marketing Intensive
  • WordPress Beginner’s Intensive

Both workshops happen Friday, 29 September from 9 am to 5 pm. The venue is the YWCA at 87 Elm St., a couple blocks away from Ryerson.

I’m writing to you about the Digital Marketing Intensive.

It starts with two sessions by Christina Varro on site security. Christina is covering the basics of how to keep your site secure, make sure it’s backed up, and recover if you get hacked.

Then Paul Tobey takes over for an afternoon dedicated to digital marketing. Paul is the keynote speaker for #WCTO, and Canada’s top digital marketing trainer. Both Paul and Christina have volunteered to share their time and knowledge during this workshop.

Paul recorded a video to tell you about the workshop

https://wcto.ca/digital-marketing-intensive

But please avoid getting a ticket through that page. If you do, it’s $97. Paul has provided a link for less than half that.

Fundraising Workshop – WordPress Beginners – Email #1

Subject Line:

Got a site and no idea what to do with it?

Email Text:

It’s a common problem. You get a site, and it just sits there. Maybe it’s not even finished.

WordCamp Toronto is trying to help solve that problem. A lot of folks come to #WCTO and are unable to take advantage of what they learn simply because they don’t really know WordPress. So they have a solution that solves a couple of problems.

It’s a workshop the day before #WCTO starts. It’s a WordPress Beginner’s Intensive, and a fundraiser for #WCTO. No one has ever done this before, and WordCamp Central is interested to see how it goes. If it works in Toronto, they might try it in other places to lighten the load for sponsors.

Neha Patel is coming all the way from Montreal to run this workshop for #WCTO. She has her own agency there, and she teaches with Ladies Learning Code. She’s also speaking at #WCTO.

Neha is starting at the beginning – the Dashboard. The she covers how to choose plugins, customizing your site, and tweaking your theme. The point is to have you up and running so you get full value at WordCamp.

A bonus of this workshop is that it includes a ticket to #WCTO.

They have no fancy landing page for the workshop. It’s their first time doing this, and they’re still working things out. So this link takes you straight to a transaction page:

http://events.onestep.on.ca/cgi/page.cgi?event_id=348&_id=12&action=new

The workshop is $147. It includes the full day with Neha, catered lunch, and your ticket to WordCamp Toronto. The workshop is limited to 18 people, and they have volunteers to help you work things through.

Since it’s their first time doing this, everyone at #WCTO is expecting questions. They definitely want to hear what you think, and are hoping you like the idea of a valuable, worthwhile workshop that supports #WCTO. They are wide open to any questions you have:  wordcampto@gmail.com
